Annual Vernon Soccer Club Memorial Awards

Andrew Aggarwala Memorial Volunteer of the Year
Our dear friend Andrew "Andy" Aggarwala was taken from us tragically in 2020.  Andy was a beloved recreational coach who instilled a love for the game in his players while also serving our club as a highly respected board member.  Andy was the epitome of a dedicated volunteer as well as being kind, humble, and selfless. We have modeled our volunteer of the year award after Andy to both honor him and celebrate his life. This volunteer is one person or individuals who have effectively dedicated substantial time to our club in addition to be being an excellent role model for their community.  The recipient/s exudes positive energy and demonstrates enthusiasm on a volunteer basis to help ensure the success of the Vernon Soccer Club’s program and mission. The Volunteer of the year is an opportunity to honor a board or non-board member as being an important contributor to our voluntary organization. The VSC Board of Directors selects the volunteer of the year.

Mark Rylander Memorial Recreational Coach of the Year
:
Our friend and coach Mark Rylander was taken from us too soon in 2018. Mark was a lifelong soccer player and dedicated coach. Mark epitomized everything a recreational coach should be. Mark was fun, caring, and dedicated to the kids he coached. He always ensured each player had a good experience and was a great model for this award.  The award is generally given to one coach or team of coaches, who were selected for their dedication, time and efforts within our recreational soccer program.  Criteria include the ability to bring an enjoyable experience to a team while promoting participation and fun for the players in a non-competitive environment. Players and peers view this person as an influential role model, a person who is coaching for the kids to have fun, promoting sportsmanship and creating a safe and positive playing environment. Nominations for REC coach of the year should include a comment on how the coach enhances the experience of the players from the above criteria. The VSC Recreational Director selects the recreational coach of the year.
